In Forrester's 64-criteria evaluation of disaster recovery vendors, we found that Hewlett-Packard (HP), SunGard, and IBM lead the pack because of their breadth of services, inventory of heterogeneous IT hardware, and global presence. In the UK market, ICM can match the services of the global players. In the US market, Qwest Communications can offer IT, mobile, and quick recovery services for small and medium-size businesses and has plans to address larger customer segments. CAPS Business Recovery Services offers work area recovery services and colocation services for IT recovery to firms primarily based on the East Coast. Although the market remains dominated by the global players, the success of national players like ICM and the entrance of telecommunication players offering their own services suggests that buyers should consider all their options in a region — not just the global providers.
