Executive Summary

Web services adoption continues, but it is taking a long time to work out all of the specifications and standards. According to data from recent Forrester surveys, Web Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP) is the framework and standard service specification with the highest level of vendor support. Digital Signature Services (DSS) has less support, but it has support among key vendors for such functionality. The frameworks from the Liberty Alliance have mixed support: Some vendors already have product implementations, but a relatively high number of both vendors and users in our surveys have decided against Liberty's frameworks. Other standard service specs have very little vendor support.
