Nigel serves CIOs, focusing on the role of CIO as a business leader influencing business strategy and performance. His research focuses on the IT to BT transformation, business and technology strategy, social technology strategy, and technology trends and their impact on competitive advantage.
Prior to his role as an analyst, Nigel served as practice leader for Forrester's IT Leadership Boards. There, he was responsible for business growth and profitability, growing the business more than 300% in four years and building a high-performing team focused on delivering outstanding service to senior IT professionals while tapping into the collective wisdom of the Leadership Boards members. In his role as practice leader he focused Leadership Board research on a wide range of IT leadership topics including Web 2.0, social media, IT business fusion, and maximizing IT's human assets
Before joining Forrester, Nigel's early career focused on helping companies reengineer their business process through the adoption of emerging technology as a senior consultant for the UK's National Computing Center (NCC). He went on to join Reebok UK as a member of the executive board in the role of executive director, management information services (CIO). While CIO at Reebok, Nigel partnered with Infosys founders Narayana Murthy and K. Dinesh to pioneer the offshore delivery model for software package development in India. Nigel also broke new ground in the application of marketing strategy to IT and established the first marketing roles in IT org design. Nigel served in leadership roles at Reebok International in IT marketing and services and Reebok's retail division. Subsequent to Reebok, Nigel led sales and marketing for Radius Retail/Transatlantic Software, developing merchandising and data warehouse solutions for large retailers. Nigel also founded an eCommerce research business. Immediately prior to joining Forrester, Nigel ran a GPS fleet tracking systems business, supplying commercial vehicle fleet management systems.
Nigel holds a B.A. (Hons) in computing in business from the University of Huddersfield and an M.B.A. from Warwick Business School at the University of Warwick.
