Usman serves Security & Risk professionals. His research and client engagement focus on challenges and solutions around Network Access Control (NAC). He advises organizations about their NAC strategy and pitfalls to avoid. Moreover, his research has focused on expanding definition of NAC that touches on broader use cases for organizations. He speaks with clients about developing a standard based NAC strategy that alleviates operational cumbersome and eases deployment issues. His current research area includes smart grid security, smart city, B2B security, and skills gap among IT professionals. His future research plans include access control tiered architecture and security operation centers (SOC).
Prior to joining the security and risk team, Usman was researcher on the IT infrastructure and operations team. His research focused on NAC, mobility, network infrastructure, and network management. Usman joined Forrester from IBM Global Services, where he served as an IT specialist in its network services group. He worked extensively with diverse clients on their wired and wireless network implementations.
Usman received his B.E. degree in computer engineering from City College of New York.
