Description:
As wireless networks and mobile device hardware mature, businesses are becoming mobile enterprises to improve business processes and customer satisfaction. Companies have discovered that the organic growth of mobile solutions, such as rogue access points or redirected email, creates device management and security challenges that are hard to manage. Firms are building corporate mobile policies to mitigate security risks. A mobile policy should contain three elements: 1) a mobility framework that establishes the guidelines for what devices and applications are supported; 2) a security policy that defines which processes and technologies are used to secure the data on devices — and the transport layer; and 3) device management and support that describes how IT will manage mobile devices and support mobile users with remote help desk, applications installations, and maintenance. Finally, for a mobile strategy to be successful, IT must build a rollout and training plan to minimize customer adoption and support issues.
