With 2009 firmly in the books, our forecast for a strong 2010 IT market has become more certain. 2009 ended with many signs of a tech market that was starting to recover. Computer equipment — especially PCs — and software are leading the upturn, with communications equipment and IT consulting services joining the growth with a lag. The US and Asia Pacific will post the strongest growth, with Europe lagging because of a weak economic recovery. Growth will be a mixture of rebounds in beaten-down sectors like computer equipment and licensed software. There will be stronger growth in new technologies like unified communications, SOA and SaaS, and server virtualization.
