REPORT: Coding Boot Camps: A New Source of Talent?

Turn To These Programs For Your Next Crop Of Developer Talent

May 20, 2019 Jeffrey S. Hammond, Bill Seguin

Software developers are hard to find, and companies need more and more of them every day. Unfortunately, some application development and delivery (AD&D) leaders hamstring themselves from the get-go by defaulting to a credential-focused application process. This approach eliminates candidates who lack classical training but are nonetheless up to the task. This report introduces the idea of hiring from coding boot camps and explains why your company should include boot campers as a source for developer talent.

REPORT: Shift Performance Testing Left To Streamline App Delivery

Times Are Ready For Shift Left of Load and Speed Performance Testing

April 12, 2019 Diego Lo Giudice, Bill Seguin

As application development and delivery (AD&D) teams speed up continuous delivery (CD), they find performance testing too late in the cycle often results in costly rework. Continuous testing is the new best practice for CD, and Agile-plus-DevOps teams need to embrace shift left to make it happen. Functional testing has been shifting left; now it's time to do the same with performance testing, adding it to continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) automation. This report outlines what shift-left performance testing (SLPT) is, why it matters, and how to do it.

    REPORT: Understanding Low-Code Developers

Half Of AD&D Pros Like Low-Code Platforms — Who Are They?

April 8, 2019 John R. Rymer, Bill Seguin

Low-code platforms continue to expand throughout organizations. Application development and delivery (AD&D) teams realize they can potentially reap a great deal of value by adopting one, but their teams don't accept these tools universally. This report uses data from the Forrester Analytics Global Business Technographics® Developer Survey, 2018, to understand who "low coders" are, what they think about their jobs, and how they work. Understanding this will allow companies to maximize the potential of low-code adoption.

How Early Adopters Of Value Stream Management Align App Dev With Business Outcomes

February 13, 2019 Christopher Condo, Bill Seguin

Value stream management (VSM) tools are starting to emerge to fill the gaps that DevOps alone can't, such as the capture and visualization of KPIs and the ability to connect business needs to value delivered.
