Why Read This
Mobility is becoming an increasingly important aspect of business technology sourcing. Forrester polled 20 enterprise IT clients who are mobility decision-makers about their mobile chargeback practices. We learned that most of them charge back to the mobile user's cost center for corporate-liable user (CLU) devices and services and for applications used for work. Only rarely are any mobile costs charged back to individual users. This practice underscores a common perception by IT decision-makers that paying for everything enables full control over how these tools and services are used. We expect this will change — and fairly quickly, if the growing number of client inquiries about managing mobile costs and allowing more use of personal mobile devices for work are an indication. Cost-conscious firms should revisit mobile chargeback practices to offer employees more personalization options and also reduce or redirect their mobile spend.
