Tyler Shields is a leading expert on mobile and application security topics, having researched a diverse set of topics including creating a BYOD policy, the mobile security stack, the impact of mobile malware on privacy, reverse engineering binary applications, rootkits and anti-debugging technologies, and, most recently, a programmatic approach to securing your mobile application ecosystem. Tyler focuses his research time and energy around both corporate business strategy and the technologies used in securing the rapidly converging mobile and application threat landscape. He is based in Raleigh, N.C.
Before joining Forrester, Tyler was product owner and manager for mobile solutions at Veracode. He was responsible for or contributed to global go-to-market strategy, mergers and acquisitions, technology due diligence, competitive intelligence, and product research and design. Previously, he was a security consultant for the boutique consulting firm @Stake, which was acquired by Symantec in 2006. In that role, he assessed the security of Fortune 500 customers, financial firms, educational institutions, and segments of the US government.
Tyler has a bachelor's degree in information technology from Rochester Institute of Technology, a master's degree in computer science from James Madison University, and an MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina.
