Summary

Online retailing has performed well in 2010. For a majority of online retailers, those results are translating into continued strong investment in eCommerce and mobile technologies in 2011. Forrester's December 2010 US Retail Executive Online Survey shows that online retailers will primarily focus on investment in back-end and multichannel integration, mobile commerce, and eCommerce platform solutions. While 20% of online retailers already have a re-platforming project underway, eCommerce platforms remain in high demand in 2011. And while a majority of online retailers use internal staff to support eCommerce platforms today, increasingly eCommerce executives look to shift toward externally supported solutions such as fully hosted/managed or SaaS eCommerce solutions.
