Online retail growth varies significantly across Asia Pacific (APAC), and the prevailing macroeconomic conditions and the agility to frame policies tackling the pandemic are two key factors. APAC countries were the first to be affected by the pandemic. They were also the first to impose stay-at-home restrictions, which led to store closures pushing buyers to move their purchases online. Overall, e-commerce grew by 16% in APAC in 2020. Among retail categories, grocery grew the fastest, at 46% in the region in 2020 — a trend we see continuing in 2021. This report presents our APAC online retail forecast from 2020 to 2025.
