Why Read This Report
One of the pioneers in creating eProcurement applications, Ariba continues to be a Leader in current offering and a Strong Contender from a strategic position. It has strengths across all our criteria, especially for goods procurement and supplier network. Strategically, it has a good corporate strategy and more than adequate financial resources, but it suffers from a fairly rigid pricing strategy and a conservative product road map. The latter is not surprising, perhaps, given that Ariba is still the functional Leader, but we would like to see it pushing innovation harder given that its feature and function lead over Oracle and SAP has narrowed. Ariba has shifted focus to offering its eProcurement (and other spend management) products on an on-demand or software-as-a-service (SaaS) basis, putting it more in competition with other SaaS vendors like Ketera Technologies, Perfect Commerce, and eMarkets.
