Summary

Forrester applied its Web Site Review methodology to the career site experience at 12 firms: the four largest financial services firms, four largest retail firms, and four leading job boards. As a group, the job boards outperformed other industries, while financial services firms fell to the bottom of the list. Due to numerous flaws revealed through our evaluation, all sites received failing scores. Despite the many problems we uncovered with the Web experiences, we also found a number of best practices, such as Monster's functionality to check application status and Macy's clear job descriptions. To improve the career Web site experience, human resources (HR) process and applications professionals should seize the opportunity to differentiate their career site experiences by designing them with job seekers in mind.
