India is among the frontrunners in internet of things (IoT) adoption, and the wave has hit government agencies as well. Smart city pilots focusing on transport, traffic, lighting, waste bins, utilities, and parking are underway. Outside of urban precincts, state governments are exploring IoT for farming, the management of infrastructure such as ports, and disaster preparedness. This report gives Indian government CIOs a detailed overview of initiatives across the country and suggests approaches to scaling such projects.
