The maturity and sophistication of existing data warehousing (DW) implementations across the Asia Pacific (AP) region has been variable, to say the least. If the hype around big data is to be believed, AP organizations will increasingly redirect much of their investment away from traditional DW and toward other technologies and big data initiatives over the next three to five years. However, unless firms clearly define these initiatives as business projects with technology support rather than technology projects with some business support, the chances of success will be limited. This report outlines the current adoption trends for big data in AP and provides recommendations on how to ensure success with big data initiatives.
