Companies are increasingly evaluating new sites for data centers to ensure that production and recovery sites sit an appropriate distance apart in geographies with lower risk profiles as well as cheaper labor, power, and real estate. M&A may also force companies to eliminate or consolidate their data centers. And with newer technology like generative AI (genAI), companies may need data centers with more available power and cooling in different locations.
