Summary

A conceptual architecture is a tool that enterprise architects can use to enhance communication, provide context, and aid direction setting. Though there are many situations in which an architect will construct a conceptual architecture, in the most useful case the architect describes a target state solution for a business capability, thus providing a reference for planning and solution design. This tool kit should be used in conjunction with the companion document, "Conceptual Architecture: Overview."
