Why Read This Report

Using offshore resources for delivery of business technology (BT) services has entered a new phase — one in which clients no longer assume that that should send "more" work offshore, but increasingly ask the question of "what" really belongs offshore. The use of domestic resources in applications outsourcing delivery is rising in profile, both from the perspective of specific domestic suppliers as well as growing domestic capabilities of the leading global and India-centric firms. The rise in popularity of these resources has less to do with the potential impact of immigration reform — on the US political back burner at least for now — but is rather a reflection of the changing nature of development itself, and the shifting economics of global delivery. Domestic sourcing has earned sporadic attention over the years but now appears on an upward trajectory, both in the context of discrete firms offering domestic sourcing services and the global behemoths as they tilt their models toward higher on-site delivery.
