Firms are often torn between forces driving application change or transformation and the overarching desire for cost management. At the same time, they often struggle to deliver projects on time and within budget. Some of the root causes of delays and budget increases are beyond the control of application planners, but a lack of thorough preparation and planning is often one of the main reasons for project failure. Similar to moving from waterfall to agile delivery, planning ("road mapping") must embrace a more agile approach to remain relevant, or be doomed to casting plans in stone that quickly crumbles. This report lays the groundwork for starting application development and delivery (AD&D) initiatives and defines a new approach to agile road mapping.
