As business focus expands beyond cost to growth and beyond internal efficiencies to customer engagement, technology management leaders are expanding their agenda. To their traditional focus on supporting and transforming internal operations — IT — they are adding the business technology (BT) agenda — helping their companies acquire, serve, and retain customers. As part of this shift, enterprise architecture (EA) programs must change how they work to enable the firm's BT agenda, and the capabilities underlying the EA program must change to make this happen.
