Summary

Among the top challenges of Forrester clients responsible for telecoms and mobility (T&M) sourcing and vendor management (SVM) face: a) lower than expected cost savings from key suppliers, b) poor or inconsistent service quality in different regions, and c) lack of flexibility in contracting and pricing. These challenges also top the list in responses to our Forrsights Networks And Telecommunications Survey, Q1 2013. SVM pros need to address these challenges throughout the T&M service contract life cycle — during each T&M service RFP process, contract negotiations, and service and provider performance reviews. SVM pros need to use a standard method for evaluating and also for comparing suppliers' capabilities overall and for the technical solutions offered. They then need to balance their service levels against service costs and demonstrated commitment to flexibility and innovation.
