The number of smartphone subscribers surpassed feature phone subscribers in 2014, and by 2020, we expect over 85% of total mobile handset subscribers to use smartphones as primary phones. With the emergence of low-cost smartphones, the majority of the new subscribers are coming from Asia Pacific and Africa, while the developed markets are driving handset sales through replacement.
