Forrester met recently with Oracle President Charles E. Phillips to discuss the firm's direction and overall product strategy, with particular focus on its now broad collection of business applications. Not surprisingly, Oracle is particularly keen to keep its newly acquired customers happy and convince them to buy into its Fusion roadmap. For enterprises making strategic software decisions, Oracle believes it has the richest, most complete portfolio of applications and middleware. Our take? Oracle's software breadth and depth is a big plus, and it has earned a good reputation for supporting acquired best-of-breed products. But to further capitalize on these amassed solutions, Oracle will need to further develop its ISV partner-friendly, solution-centric ecosystem and continue to chip away at its historically less-than-customer-focused perception.
