Quick Take: BMC Software — A New Company With A Well-Known Name

Will The New Executives, New Branding, And Diligent Focus On Customer Experience Be Enough To Retain And Win Customers?

October 21, 2014

Why Read This Brief

Last week, BMC Software held its global users' conference, BMC Engage. The event attracted over 800 BMC customers, 157 implementation and technology partners, 42 showcase booths, and 20 industry analysts from eight different firms. The conference included over 126 technical client and partner sessions and a good-size solution floor. The event, however, mostly focused on the new BMC. Since BMC's privatization in September 2013, the company was restricted from communicating its plans, and many customers and partners were wondering when and how the new BMC would emerge. BMC Engage was the company's marketing effort to rebrand and reintroduce the new BMC. Highlights for infrastructure and operations (I&O) professionals include the announcement of Remedy with SmartIT, Automation Passport, and a new organization ready to play again. This report presents our analysis of BMC's event and key announcements, and explains what they mean to you.
