Quick Take: Google Cloud Services Gather Steam

New Developer Tools, Big Data Services, And Aggressive Pricing Will Tempt Enterprise Developers

July 1, 2014

Why Read This Brief

At last week's I/O developer conference, Google announced a slew of new developer tools, application programming interfaces (APIs), and cloud services that will make it easier for developers to put Internet-scale infrastructure behind their modern applications. This report details Forrester's take on these new and updated cloud infrastructure services. While Google is still playing catch up to Amazon Web Services (AWS), we expect these new services to put substantial pressure on all public cloud infrastructure providers, especially when it comes to file sync-and-share and analytics. When added to Google's complete developer offerings, these services establish Google's digital platform infrastructure as a contender which developers should evaluate when building modern applications.
