Summary

Recent Forrester survey data shows that, in most organizations, enterprise architects strongly influence technology purchase decisions. Three-quarters of our respondents said that all or most major technology purchases at their organization require enterprise architecture (EA) sign-off. In addition to demonstrating EA's growing influence, these results also show that most organizations have implemented meaningful governance processes to keep their technology purchases aligned with technology strategy. The data also has strong implications for technology vendors: Those that don't understand what keeps enterprise architects awake at night will be missing an important aspect of their sales pitch.
