Summary

Unified communications (UC) remains a priority for infrastructure and operations (I&O) professionals. In Forrester's Forrsights Networks And Telecommunications Survey, Q1 2011, we asked 547 North American and European technology decision-makers about their UC spending plans. Their responses revealed that they understand the elements of UC, and can define the business case and drive adoption with confidence. Interoperability is a top concern in the industry today, but I&O professionals are choosing to solve the problem by migrating to a single-vendor solution. This migration occurs over a series of upgrades to UC components, with each step resulting in the reduction of the number of vendors in the overall UC road map. I&O professionals are interested in cloud-based UC deployments, but today they're investing in more evolutionary centralized and private hosted architectures.
