Consumer and commercial electric vehicles (EVs) need to “refill their tanks” at publicly accessible or private business charging stations, or at a personal, residential charger. These chargers are not only connected to payment networks as gasoline, diesel, or petrol pumps are, they’re also connected to local power grids and charge point operators (CPOs) that manage these connected devices. As with all connected computing devices, protecting EVs from malicious actors is critical to maintaining safe operations for all involved, including CPOs as well as their customers. This report will review the security implications of this charging infrastructure for your organization, employees, and customers.
