Contractual obligations and fear of breach disclosure laws are leading more organizations to deploy encryption throughout their environments. However, encryption capabilities can be expensive and cumbersome; most deployments are of point encryption solutions, especially when deployed in reaction to a mandate or breach. Organizations need to break the problem of data confidentiality into manageable chunks, but they must also keep the bigger picture in mind when deploying solutions to address tactical encryption needs.
