Agile development approaches enable more frequent product launches but also create confusion about the nature of a product launch. Launch planning is still needed, even with the iterative and flexible nature of agile development. Clarity around responsibilities and the appropriate frequency of launches helps align functions and improves the likelihood of achieving launch objectives. Without this coordination, frequent releases are difficult to support and potentially problematic for customers. In this report, we review recommended launch practices for products built using an agile development approach.
