Centers of excellence (COEs) alone have proven insufficient in bridging the gap between AI decision-makers’ beliefs and the reality of nontechnical employees’ adaptation to AI systems. Communities of practice (CoPs) offer a solution, enabling teams with varied AI goals to use best practices and share capabilities. CoPs facilitate quicker AI deployment, enhance trust through collaboration, and decrease costs by improving AI literacy and knowledge sharing. This report advocates for a structured approach to CoPs that complements COE, emphasizing clear communication, leadership, and community enablement, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning in AI adoption.
