Digital business professionals in the US healthcare industry should read this research to gain insight into the state of healthcare in the US, the potential use cases of remote technology in healthcare to improve the status quo — and the gaps that need to be filled in order for the industry to warm up to these devices’ potential. The numbers are stark: More than six in ten Americans suffer from at least one chronic disease or health condition that demands medical attention to monitor or treat once diagnosed. In 2019, the US Census Bureau identified a total of 21.3% of Americans depending on government assistance each month. And though the number per capita of primary care doctors in the US has increased every year since 1950, the ratio is not consistent across different parts of the country. Remote healthcare devices potentially have a huge role to play in making a difference in access to healthcare and ongoing healthcare-based support for more Americans, but there’s a ways to go before many working in the industry fully buy in. Digital business professionals interested in the use of remote technology in healthcare should read our 2020 US virtual care forecast and schedule an inquiry for further insight.
