Many off-the-shelf business apps are supposed to be global. However, the reality of what it really means to be global lies between off-the-shelf support and vast amounts of customization. International or global firms should do a reality check on just how global suppliers' "global" apps really are before embarking on a global implementation, only to be disappointed.
