ASEAN Datacenter Study: Virtualization, Consolidation, And Data De-Duplication

Summary

This document provides vendor strategists with an overview of the results from the survey on the ASEAN Datacenter market dynamics based on 112 interviews with ASEAN CXOs and top IT executives of large and medium enterprises and public organizations employing more than 500 people conducted between May and July 2010. The findings suggest that consolidation of standard operational servers forms the most preferred choice among the enterprises that have either undertaken server consolidation or are planning to do so for their datacenters. The document outlines the main reasons for undertaking server consolidation and virtualization, as well as provides the data on average percentage of physical servers running in virtualized environments and the average ratio of server to virtual host. Also the report provides the data on implementation of storage virtualization and the main reasons for adoption of storage virtualization. The document highlights the reasons for and types of data de-duplication implementations. The report provides the numbers for the average spending on IT as a proportion of total revenues in 2010 and forecasts the growth for 2011.
