Enterprise architecture (EA) leaders often ask how mature their EA programs are. When a program doesn't have the intended impact or falls short of sponsors' expectations, they feel pressure to change, so they reach for maturity models. But such models ignore how the EA program fits with the larger business and technology organization, and both fit and maturity are necessary for EA programs to succeed. This report gives EA leaders an approach to evaluate the fit and maturity of their EA programs, the first step in planning improvements. This is an update of a previously published report; Forrester reviews and revises it periodically for continued relevance and accuracy.
