Summary
In an unexpected move, Autonomy announced in January 2009 that it will acquire Interwoven for $775 million. Interwoven's document management and Web content management (WCM) products align with Autonomy's search and discovery solutions. With another acquisition in its portfolio, Autonomy now offers a jam-packed line of information management applications. Some information and knowledge management (I&KM) professionals now have a choice to make: commit to Autonomy to address enterprise regulatory and compliance challenges in the same way that IT shops have sided with IBM or Microsoft, or press Autonomy to build open and extensible product offerings to integrate with existing enterprise investments.
