Summary

Despite the constant and rapid growth of data in enterprises, the revenue and profits of the major storage players have been flat to declining for the last few years. Cloud storage services and hyperconverged platforms that blend server and storage resources into modular units for management and deployment simplicity have become an alternative to conventional disk storage systems. These factors have eroded the profits and revenue growth of array vendors. In spring 2015, the enterprise storage players took turns putting their best foot forward with new platforms and partnerships to stanch their hemorrhaging revenues. This report discusses the dramatic changes taking place in the storage space and discusses how infrastructure and operations (I&O) professionals should evolve their storage infrastructures to meet their BT agenda needs.
