Business differentiation through technology has shifted from IT to business technology (BT), but the typical infrastructure and operations (I&O) organization today is built around technology silos. As such, I&O is slowly moving from a plan-build-run model toward a plan-procure-manage model to better align with the BT agenda. While the previous model required tactical infrastructure and service knowledge and skills, the new model requires innovation, flexibility, and cooperation.
