Brief: Reasons To (Or Not To) Modernize BI Platforms With Hadoop

Business intelligence (BI) and big data are two pieces of the same jigsaw puzzle — a mosaic of multiple technologies, processes, and best practices that transform data into information for actionable insight. Unfortunately, huge oversimplifications in distinguishing the two have led organizations to make incorrect assumptions and wrong technology choices. Rather than trying to define the boundaries, application development and delivery (AD&D) pros and their business colleagues must arm themselves with a set of appropriate questions about their business and technology needs. By collaboratively discussing their company requirements along the guidelines in this report, AD&D pros can make more informative decisions about when their BI platforms may need a Hadoop upgrade.
