The rapid pace of mobile development is putting a strain on traditional testing organizations and methodologies. Quality assurance (QA) organizations must leverage modern tooling to meet business demands for faster time-to-market and increased quality. The raging debate about whether to test using mobile device emulators, or whether to test natively on mobile devices, presents a false choice to development teams. Teams will use both; the question is when to use which. This report highlights the different varieties and use-cases of both emulators and real devices for mobile testing.
