The data center is the firm's digital factory, and today's customer expectations are pushing it harder than ever. Infrastructure and operations (I&O) pros must confront a global optimization problem that spans all layers of the infrastructure and extends into app development and runtime architecture. This report presents a road map for integrating the different operational regimes of data center design, operation, consolidation, and workload management, which will allow I&O pros to achieve the goals of their solid utility IT agenda and focus the bulk of their resources on the business technology (BT) elements needed to win, serve, and retain customers.
