The US and global economies have landed with a thud, and technology spending for the next four to six quarters is going to suffer. Enterprise Web 2.0 vendor strategists are asking Forrester the question: How badly will it hurt? Different sectors of the Web 2.0 market face different prospects. We expect spending on Web 2.0 technologies for marketing purposes to continue to advance at a healthy clip. However, we believe that the enterprise Web 2.0 collaboration and productivity sector will be hard hit. To prepare, vendor strategists will need to reevaluate everything from basic product strategy to investment in innovation.
