Summary
John Petrie at Harland Clarke was lucky to report directly to executive management, and he reported on a routine basis to the executive management team on information security issues. This gave him a unique perspective into the business planning and prioritization process. His challenge was to establish a robust information security program in an organization where number of defects was top of mind, not security. He was able to blend the two successfully by arguing that security is part of manufacturing excellence.
