As cloud computing matures, Hydrasight foresees that proprietary enterprise cloud infrastructures will become increasingly attractive to vendors, as a point of competitive differentiation, before 2015. We expect proprietary software and hardware cloud infrastructure vendors will market their products as providing additional benefits in availability, scalability, performance, optimization, manageability and cost. While Hydrasight advises that the majority of enterprise clients recognize the proprietary components of cloud computing, we also note there are some business and technical requirements that can benefit from proprietary technology adoption, regardless of vendor lock-in.
