In 2013, MasterCard received one of the five InfoWorld/Forrester Enterprise Architecture Awards for its innovative approach to connecting business strategy to project execution. In a period of transition from post-industrial to service era, companies face the need to grant more autonomy to regional- or product-based lines of business, while optimizing delivery costs and quality. At the same time, technology is becoming increasingly important to products and services. This case study shows how MasterCard addressed these challenges by designing and implementing a new enterprise architecture (EA) methodology for the company.
