Summary

Forrester predicted four major content security trends entering 2009. So how'd we do? We got three right, one half-right, and none wrong. As predicted, the market saw a tremendous amount of consolidation — pure players are disappearing from the market, growth in SaaS delivery is strong, and enterprises purchased more DLP functions within content security products. Web 2.0 continues to drive interest, but adoption didn't span as quickly as we predicted. Heading into 2011, we are predicting three new trends for the content security market: 1) Content security spending, as a percentage of overall IT security spending, will decrease; 2) product capabilities will continue to consolidate and drive toward content security platforms and suites; and 3) mobile filtering will enter mainstream IT.
