Successful delivery of APIs requires application development and delivery (AD&D) professionals to have the right strategy and the right infrastructure. API gateways and API management solutions are important but not sufficient. As a foundation for crafting a strong API platform strategy, this report defines and describes the five major elements of a comprehensive API platform. Furthermore, to place API strategy in the broader context of digital transformation, it depicts the relationship between API platforms and digital business platforms.
