Many organizations want to move away from waterfall-based product development approaches but struggle to implement an agile approach. To successfully move to an agile approach, an organization must define its goals and objectives, envision the future state, and identify impacts and dependencies. The transition to agile is significant and needs to be carefully planned and managed. Do not underestimate the difficulty of abandoning a long-ingrained process, or the impact that the change will have on the people involved. In this report, we outline a three-step process for moving from a waterfall product development process to an agile approach.
