Summary

In Q1 2007, companies based in EMEA signed 75 large outsourcing deals — with a total deal value of almost €5.7 billion. More than half of these deals included infrastructure outsourcing elements. Buyers' interest in BPO failed to maintain the growth it showed in Q4 2006. Financial services and insurance firms exhibited increased deal activity and regained the lead in deal share from government and public-sector organizations. Manufacturing firms were again the second most active group. UK companies remain outsourcing's champions, followed by those in Germany, where Forrester tracked strong deal activity. Buyers signed more large deals this quarter, although not at the expense of smaller contracts. Five-year deals continued to be most popular in terms of deal length. IBM Global Services started 2007 very strongly, leading our survey in terms of the number of deals closed and the highest total contract value signed. T-Systems and BT Global Services were runners-up in deal numbers and total contract value, respectively.
