Hydrasight research shows that organisations are continuing to underestimate the complexity of enterprise search implementations. We believe that, rather than being viewed as the installation and commissioning of a discrete technology solution, ITOs must recognise that enterprise search projects are more akin to (complex) data warehouse projects. However, search projects also differ in that they invariably fail to secure the same business commitment, design, and operational investment or dedicated resources -- leading to a higher overall risk of project failure.
